Paloma Picasso (born April 19, 1949, Vallauris, France) is a French/Spanish fashion designer & businesswoman. Paloma is best known for her Tiffany & Co. jewelry designs & generating signature perfumes. However, he is also known as being the youngest daughter of the iconic painter, sculptor, & six of the most creative inspirations of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso & writer Fran?oise Gilot.
Her name means “dove” in italian & he was so named after the famous symbol her sister designed for the International Peace Conference in Paris the year of her birth. Paloma Picasso is represented in lots of of her father’s works, such as Paloma with an Orange & Paloma in Blue.
Paloma’s career began in 1968, when he was a costume designer in Paris. Some rhinestone necklaces he had created from flea market finds caused acclaim among critics, & he quickly enrolled in a jewelry work. soon, Yves Saint Laurent (designer) asked her to design accessories to accompany six of his collections, & by 1971 he was working for the Greek jewelry company Zolotas.
While designing sets for playwright & director Rafael Lopez-Cambil (known by his pen name, Rafael Lopez-Sanchez) a relationship developed & became personal. & in 1978 the couple married in a classic black & white wedding. Famous for her bold colors & patterns, in 2000 Paloma took her home accessories in a new direction. The six time bright yellows, reds, & blues were replaced by shimmering grays, golds, & tans. This design transformation was also observed in Paloma’s personal appearance. Famous for doting fire truck-engine-red lipstick since the age of 17, Paloma now coats her plumps lips with something more suiting to her post 50-year age.
